The Talimena Scenic Drive crosses a mountain range formed by a unique geological process, which can make the weather considerably different than nearby cities. The key word is unpredictable. The valleys surrounding the Drive may be warm and muggy while the mountaintops are considerably cooler. Likewise the valleys may be covered in fog or rain while the mountaintops break through the clouds to create a sunny day. We have links here to two National Weather Service offices that provide weather forecasts and live radar for Talihina, Oklahoma and Mena, Arkansas. Generally the temperatures you see in these forecasts will be somewhat warmer than what you find on the mountain tops.
