Civilized Tribes Museum
The great nations of the Five Civilized Tribes-Cherokees, Chickasaws,
Choctaws, Creeks and Seminoles were relocated in Indian Territory
from their southeastern United States ancestral lands. This removal
is one of the world's tragic histories. Their heritage, however,
lives on within this museum.
Spiro Mounds Archaeological
Center
Enjoy lectures and viewing of pre-historic Indian mounds with evidence
of a culture between 850 A.D. and 1450 AD.
Indian Village
Visit the Ancient Village, an authentic recreation of a Cherokee
settlement as it was prior to European contact. Cherokee craftspeople
reenact the daily activities of their ancestors. Demonstrations
of ancient cultural practices such as flint-knapping, basketry,
pottery and cooking bring the past to life.
Cherokee National Museum
This museum includes changing exhibits. The museum is housed in
a native rock building surrounded by the surviving columns of the
Cherokee Female Seminary in a 44 acre park.
