Castle Rock Vista

At 0.3 mile walking trail leads to a rocky point called Castle Rock, from which a magnificent view stretches in all directions. This is one of the highest points of the Ouachita Mountains. At the parking area are some ancient ice pruned white oak trees. The elfin, or dwarf, forest here shows the narrow transition line between the dry scrub oak forest of the south slope and the white-oak forest of the north slope.
