The area is also home to wonderful restaurants serving every kind of food imaginable. You will find many well known restaurants in Fort Smith, Poteau and Mena and all three cities also have their own unique local restaurants. Many of the smaller communities around the drive have convenient restaurants serving great food.

Shopping

One of the great parts of traveling the area surrounding the Talimena Scenic Drive is discovering the wonderful shops tucked away here and there. You never know what you're going to find around the next turn or in the next town!

You will find wonderful shops with antiques, local arts and crafts plus curios and novelties. The larger cities are also home to nationally known stores and shopping malls.

The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma is very proud to have thirteen travel plazas located throughout the 10 1/2 counties of the Choctaw Nation service area. You may purchase fuel, snacks, and browse through the gift shops at each location.  The plazas are located in Atoka, Broken Bow, two in Durant, Garvin, Heavener, Hugo, Idabel, McAlester, Pocola, Poteau, Stringtown.
