The Kerr Conference Center and museum was donated to the State of Oklahoma in 1978 by the Kerr Family. It is the former home of Robert S. Kerr and sits on approximately 40 acres of land in LeFlore county, near the City of Poteau, atop a ridge which affords a simply breath taking view to be enjoyed from your room or while relaxing around our swimming pool. The Kerr Center opened to the public in 1990 as the Kerr Country Mansion and Conference Center, allowing the home to be used as a bed and breakfast as well as a conference facility. There are 10 spacious sleeping rooms in the main house, each with its own private bath and distinct personality. Rooms 101 - 103 and 110 are named after the four Presidents of the United States that actually stayed in these rooms. The Presidents staying at the Kerr Conference Center include John F. Kennedy, Gerald Ford, George Bush and Lyndon B. Johnson. Room 104 is named after Carl Albert, which is where Carl Albert State College in Poteau gets its name. Speaker Albert was a frequent quest and always stayed in room 104. Rooms 105 & 106 are the Ship Rooms and were used to entertain children visiting the Kerr home. There are 10 additional sleeping quarters housed in cabins. Located next to the mansion is a wonderful museum, which depicts the history and development of Eastern Oklahoma and houses Senator Kerr's office furniture as well as some of his personal items. The large deck, just off the dining room, offers a spectacular view of the Poteau River Valley below. You can enjoy a walk through the 40 acres or play golf at the local country club, just a five-minute drive from the home.
